More and more data is coming out showing the numerous health benefits of drinking green tea. Green tea contains polyphenols which have potent anti-oxidant effects. I will list some of the benefits of drinking green tea. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and reduce the risk of certain cancers. It thins the blood and decreases the chance of clotting which reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks. It lowers total cholesterol and may improve the ratio of good (HDL) to bad (LDL) cholesterol. It also kills the bacteria that causes dental plaque. It can help those interested in weight loss as those who drink green tea burn more calories. It does contain some caffeine which can give an energy boost, but it also increases energy by decreasing the breakdown of nor-adrenaline in the body. Although it can stimulate you, it also contains an amino acid called L-threonine which can have a calming effect. Many people have reported automatic weight loss simply from switching from coffee to green tea.
