Wow! Fish Oil Does All That?

Not all fat is bad. More and more evidence keeps coming in to support the numerous health benefits of fish oil- which contain omega 3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA. Most people don't eat enough sea food, so supplementing with fish oil is a great idea and a good way to enhance your health. Although I am sure I will miss something, here is a list of the known benefits of fish oil: reduced risk of heart disease, improved cholesterol profile, weight loss, immune system enhancement, anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic effects, improved blood circulation, improved workout recovery, improved prostate health for men and help with PMS for women. On the mental health front, the brain is made of 60% fat (mostly omega 3 and 6 fatty acids) much of which surrounds and protects the brain nerves (neurons). Studies have shown that fish oil can help alleviate symptoms of ADHD, depression, bipolar depression and post-partum depression. I take about 3 grams of fish oil throughout the day in addition to trying to include more fish and tuna to my diet. I also like to add other healthy fats to my diet such as flax seed oil (mixed in with smoothies), olive oil, walnuts and avocados.

I'm not a fish-eater and I've tried to take fish oil, but I burped fish all day. So I've been taking flaxseed oil for a while now. Does that have the same benefits?

I take both fish oil and flax seed oil everyday. The both have the Omega fatty acids you want to increase in your diet. I know there are some "burp-free" fish oil capsule formulations out there. It helps to take it with food.
